Welcome to the website of Resilient Interdependent Systems Engineering (RISE) Research Lab

RISE Lab is directed by Dr. Jin Zhu at Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at University of Connecticut.

At RISE Lab, we conduct research to improve the efficiency and resilience of different types of complex sociotechnical systems exposed to disruptions and disasters, such as construction project systems, infrastructure systems, and communities. To address the grand challenge, the RISE Lab focuses on research that advances knowledge, methods, and data within and across diverse disciplines including civil engineering, complex systems science, network and graph theory, decision theory, organizational theory, and computer science. The ultimate goal of research conducted at the RISE Lab is to improve people’s quality of life by facilitating informed decision making and optimal planning at different levels across time.
